3D configurator
Custom baseball glove builder
Shoppers build a custom infield glove on a live 3D model: colour every leather zone, pick the throwing hand and break-in, and add embroidered text that renders on the glove as they type. Every choice lands in a real Shopify cart.
- Native Shopify theme
- Headless storefront

The same builder runs as a native Horizon theme section on a Shopify development store, with palettes and the embroidery add-on editable in the theme editor.
thirdageThe problem
Custom-glove builders need many colour zones, a mirrored model for left-handed throwers and per-letter embroidery, and they still have to price correctly at checkout. Most hosted configurators keep that logic outside Shopify.
Your team can edit
- Leather and thread colour palettes
- Embroidery add-on product and price
- Variant prices (break-in)
- Headings and model credit
The approach
- A finished 3D glove was taken apart into 15 named zones (mat_<zone> materials), with seams, stitching, logo and tag rebuilt so each part recolours independently.
- Break-in is a real variant and each embroidered text is a separate add-on product, so Shopify calculates every price.
- All other choices travel as line-item properties, plus a design code that reopens the exact build.
- Embroidery is rendered in a web worker into the model’s textures, with satin stitch relief, so it reads like thread rather than print.
- One builder engine runs both as a Horizon theme section and as this headless Next.js page.
